Caring for two at The Portland Hospital

The Portland Hospital is the only independent maternity hospital in the UK and the only private hospital with an onsite neonatal intensive care unit.

We aim to make sure you have the most comfortable, safe and enjoyable pregnancy and delivery possible.

You can choose between midwife or consultant-led care, safe in the knowledge that you and your baby will receive the highest level of support and expertise.

Breast mammogram

Screening programmes

We’ve designed a preventative health screen for women to detect early signs of illness, as well triple assessment screening for breast cancer at The Wellington Hospital, which aims to investigate and diagnose lumps in a single visit.

You can also self-refer to our smear clinic at The Portland Hospital, meaning you don't need to wait three years between cervical screens if you don't want to.

Fertility ultrasound

Fertility medicine and IVF

Our Lister Fertility Clinic is the largest private fertility centre in the UK — and one of the most successful — with over 20,000 "Lister" babies born since 1988.

We can assist with diagnosis of fertility problems and can help women and couples whose previous fertility treatment has been unsuccessful or who may have been declined treatment elsewhere.

30 years of Lister Fertility Clinic

As part of the Lister Fertility Clinic turning 30, Dr James Nicopoullos and Dr Yau Thum share the history of the clinic and how they continue to use the latest techniques in fertility treatments.

Three former patients of the clinic also share their experiences of going through fertility treatment.

Peace of mind

We use the latest diagnostic techniques and equipment so you can feel confident in the quality of your diagnosis. Whether you'd like a routine sexual health check or you're concerned about a symptom, we can help put your mind at rest.

We also understand the importance of privacy and dignity when caring for women. This is why discretion, confidentiality and sensitivity are at the heart of our services.

The staff involved in my care were so calm and reassuring, I felt completely safe.
